Craft Lesson

Image
Description: For this activity we focused in on Earth day and what landscapes come to mind when thinking about the Earth. We also talked about continuous lines and how Pablo Picasso did some work with them. I chose to do a mountain landscape adding three plus colors through to bubble painting activity.  Extension: An extension to this activity is that I would have it set up for a class project were all the students have a big piece of paper and work together to fill the space. This will also students to work together in a group setting and build on team work.

Clay Lesson

Image
Description: For this clay project, we created trinket trays. We covered how to add and subtract things from the clay. For out trinket tray we were to create something that would symbolize us within adding and subtracting stuff from the piece of clay. We were also instructed to add color that helps display our emotions within our symbol.  Extension: For an extension activity I would have students build off of this exact activity but focus more on blending within the colors and finding complimentary colors that would go well with each other. Students could also create their own shape of their choosing.

Printmaking Lesson

Image
Description: This 3D printing lesson was to go off of the artist of Andy Warhol. We were instructed to carve three different symbols into the form plate. After carving our symbols into the plate we painted over the foam to transfer them onto paper. As a class we were instructed to make four different copies and write about our different symbols.  Extension: An extension activity that I would do for class is to relate it back to a social studies lesson were they have to carve out a state of their choosing and highlight different landmarks within the state. Students will then be able to write about what state they chose and the different landmarks they highlighted within the printmaking.

Paper Lesson

Image
Description: For this activity we were introduced to the history of weaving and how many other cultures approach their weaving techniques. The project we created was paper weaving. Each person has to chose three different colors and follow the steps needed to complete the weaving. I picked spring colors that spring time that is right around the corner.  Extension: For an extension activity I will have students draw three different drawing on the papers and students will write about what happened when they were combined and create a description of what it turned out to be when all three of them were mixed together.

Painting Lesson

Image
Description: For this watercolor painting we learned about the Ted Harrison and the many techniques he uses to blend his artwork. Upon learning about Harrison as a class were created a valley like landscape where we incorporated warm colors into the sun set and cool colors into the ground/valley. Extension: For an extension activity I would instruct students to create their own landscape of their choosing. Students would then get to pick two colors close to each other on the color wheel and work to blend them to each other.

Drawing Lesson

Image
Description: This drawing activity implemented and focused in on illusion. For this art project we were asked to create our own illusion using the a grid and line format. The center focus of my illusion was an H for my first name. We were also asked to state our different types of media that we used throughout this project.  Extension: An extension to this activity would be to implement different shapes into the background instead of the letters. This will expand students creativity in focusing in on different shapes and can be related back to math with a lesson focusing in on 2D and 3D shapes.

Hidden Safari Animals

Image
Description: For this art activity I drew an animal shape in a cool blue color in the background. This art project goes off of the art of Herni Rousseau where he most commonly is known for hiding objects in his art work. One thing that I did to draw my animal is to draw it upside down. By doing this I got a more clear image of an actual animal. After drawing the animal I drew three different shapes with warm colors to cancel out the blue cool color to the naked eye. At the end we were to state 3 different hints about our animal.  Extension: As an extension activity I will have students scribe a letter through mores code and pass it to one of their classmates to translate with their red color glasses. This will have students learning a different form of language as well as having students working together to decode the messages.
